C.R.E.A.T.E - Children Resourced by Expressive Art Therapy and Education
C.R.E.A.T.E Globally is a 501c3 non-profit serving children and youth globally through the expressive arts and education.
Vision: By supporting children to tell their stories through the power of the expressive arts, C.R.E.A.T.E Globally strives to empower creative, young leaders locally and globally.
We offer local programs such as Youth with SpirART and Art in the Park. Each program allows expressive art therapists to work with children from the ages 5-16 in the areas of writing, painting, dance and music - children are empowered to tell their personal stories through these therapeutic and creative modalities, gaining a deeper sense of themselves, others and their community.
On a global level, C.R.E.A.T.E Globally ’s mission is to connect expressive art therapists and their innovative programs with orphanages and foundations around the world. This may give a therapist the opportunity to earn internship or field work hours while gaining cross-cultural experience. In this way, we hope to create healing opportunities for creative kids everywhere.
Past C.R.E.A.T.E. Globally Events
In April, 2010 I volunteered at an orphanage in Bhakatpur, Nepal. I took donated yarn and needles and taught the 13 girls to knit. Within hours they were knitting scarves, within days, they were creating hats. Truly talented knitters, they used up all the yarn in a week.
The C.R.E.A.T.E. Globally knitting project serves to support the growing love of knitting that these girls have. Please donate any yarn you no longer need, new yarn, and needles. The next shipment will be sent to them in July 2010...thank you so much!
